How to create flexible report? - Reports

Hello,
Our users frequently change the requirement of reports. So our management ask us to develop a more flexible report and allow them to select the data. How to accomplish this? Or is there any 3rd party reporting tools?
Thanks,
George

Hi,
you can achieve it with Customizing Reports at Runtime. To know more about Customizing Report ,
Please refer http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/pdf/A73173_01.pdf.
Then, use following command line to run the customized report
rwrun60 userid=scott/tiger report=cond.rdf customize=e:\orant\tools\doc60\us\rbbr60\cond.xml
Thanks,
Puvan.

Hi Puvan,
Thank you for your help, but the PDF file does not exist. Could you suggest another file?

George

How do you invoke your report?
How about implement the security check by searching generated reports or let it run if not generated, namely in the report-calling env.?
Hi ,
I will invoke this report in Oracle apps. After passing the report parameters. It will open the PDF report before opening it should ask any kind of security passpord to view report.
Please help me in this.
Thanks,
Sivaprasad
Hello,
this is possible with Reports version >= 9.0.2
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html
Secure PDF Destination
This destination creates a secure PDF that is password-protected.
This sample is tested with Oracle Reports 9i, Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4), and Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2).
For the integration of this solution in Oracle Apps, you should post a message in the Oracle Apps forum

I am using Forms & Reports6i.
I have to build an oracle report and want to export it to Microsoft Excell.

I will have a button or a menu item to call the report and another button or link to open the report in Excel.

Hi,
the document Getting Reports Ouput to MS Excel - Techniques and References (Note: 209770.1) gives you a good entry point for all versions of Reports about this question.

Forms 6i and/or reports 6i

Hi, everybody.
Does anyone know of a way (using forms or another product or utility) to convert a form or report to text? I need this for the documentation that I am currently doing.
Please note that the File-Administration-Convert binary-to-text option from Forms will not work for my purpose because the pl/sql in the file it produces is not readable.
Thanks.

Hi,
You can generate the 'Object List Report'. This option is available under
File-> Administration->
You can also run this from the command line.
eg:
f50gen32 module=<modulename> userid=<userid/passwd> forms_doc=YES
The 'Object List Report' option creates a file named in the following convention in the working directory:
<Modulename.txt>
Best Regards,
Deepak Rai
Thanks very much, Deepak. That's exactly what I need for forms.
Now I also need to do the same thing for reports.

Ernie

Ernie,
In Oracle Reports 3.0 and above there is a menu item called 'Report on Reports' for generating a documentation report on a report.
ie,
File --> Administration --> Report on Reports
This runs a report documenting report definitions stored in the database.
The Reports-On-Reports report needs to have the report that is being documented stored in the database.

Emailing a discoverer Report

Hi All,
I know there is no feature in Discoverer wherein we can automatically mail a report.
Can anyone please suggest me the various means by which we can email the reports, so that we can suggest them to the client and come up with the best of all.
Regards,
Shruti
Hi,
I think we can mail our report output to users(or whoever) by using Discoverer Desktop.
File --> mail
Please try this. In that we have many options like excel output or textpad like that..
Thanks
Mubarish MG
H,
You cannot email a report directly from Discoverer. You have to use a third party scheduler and the Discoverer Desktop command line. See this Emailing Discoverer report for more details.
